About Ravindra Jain

Shri Ravindra Jain a multi dimensional personality born in Aligarh with inborn talent on Feb 28, 1944, father Pt Indramani Jain Vaidya Shastri and mother Smt Kiran Devi Jain. He has six brothers and one sister. He has a caring, highly cultured and literary poetess wife Deevya Jain who is the daughter of Mr. RS Jain and poetess writer Smt Nirmala Jain. He has been blessed with brilliant son Ayushmaan Jain.

He is a noted music composer, singer and lyricist who has enriched and influenced the world of music after obtaining his ‘Sangeet Prabhakar Degree ’ from Prayag Sangeet Samiti Allahabad. He started his musical carrier from Kolkata. Producer Shree Radheshyam Jhunjhunwala took him to Bombay.

From 1972 till date he has immensely contributed to the Indian film industry by giving music and voice to super duper and golden jubilee hit movies like Saudagar ,Chor Machaye Shor,Geet Gata Chal, Fakira, Chitchor, Ankhiyon Key Jharokho Se, Nadiya Ke Paar, Ram Tere Ganga Maili, Heena, Vivah to name a few above 200 films in many languages and television serials like Ramayan, Jai Shree Krishna, Hanuman Sai Baba, Alif Laila and many more, thus influencing music lovers of all generation. His style of music endeavors to bridge many a gap at once, pulling together the mythical, the classical and modern, the folk and the contemporary.

Legendary singers of the day like Mohammad Rafi Saheb,Kishore da, Mukeshji and living legends Lataji and Ashaji loved to give their voice to the songs composed by Shri Ravindra Jain. He is equally comfortable with the contemporary singers like Udit Narayan, Sonu Nigam, Shaan, Javed Ali, Kavitha Krishnamurti ,Sadhana Sargam, Shreya Ghoshal, Sunidhi Chauhan. He is credited to have promoted and discovered singers of the stature of Arati Mukharji, Hemlata, Jaspal Singh, Yeshudas and Suresh Wadkar.

Throughout his carrier he has received abundant recognition from prestigious national and international institutions for his creative work which include Sahitya Academy Award by Government of Uttar Pradesh for ‘Ujaalon ka Silsila’-a collection of shayaris in Urdu, and awards such as Raseshwar,Sur Singar,Youth National,Filmfare,Dda Sahib Phalke,Lata Mangeshkar (Madhya Pradesh And Maharashtra Government),Asha Bhosle (Maharashtra government) Amir Khusro,Swami Haridas,Priyadarshini,Sangeet Gyaneshwar and Sangeet Samrat to name a few.

He has authored his autobiography titled ‘Sunehre Pal’. He has translated holy Quran Shareef in poetic form from Arabic to Urdu. He has written composed and sang many numbers on Jainism and Poet Tirthankar Mahavir’s life. He is sharing his musical genius with young generation and has guided many research scholars for their PhD work.

In light of Shri Ravindra Jain’s enormous contribution in the field of music, art and literature which resulted in solidifying multiculturalism and social integration not only in India but across the world, the Teerthanker Mahaveer University proudly recognized him as a Doctor of Philosophy given by Honorable former President Shree APJ Abdul Kalaam. Four candidates have acquired Phd on his life and his work.

At 68, he is still trotting the globe and conducting ‘Ravindra Jain Night’ shows particularly in UK, USA, Canada, Germany, South Africa and the Gulf, spreading the feeling of happiness and brotherhood.

Through Ravindra Jain Academy of Music and Fine Arts Charitable Trust, he is exploring and nurturing the hidden musical talent of the youth.
